Careers

Web Developer 

Remote, Part-Time

This position is open to candidates interested in working with Safe Place International to develop our website and online presence. Applicants should be able to start immediately, with a focus on developing online fundraising and crowdfunding platforms. They will work closely with our Social Media Coordinator, Administrative Team and Management to develop our website. Applicants should have a strong background in online fundraising, Non-profit and NGO’s, WordPress, copywriting and crowdfunding platforms as well a strong commitment to human rights, LGBT+ issues, and refugee rights.

Skills include: JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, Web Programming Skills, E-Commerce, Teamwork, cross-browser compatibility, Online Security, Web Services (REST/SOAP), Multimedia Content Development, and API’s. English fluency is required and other language skills are a plus.

Beirut LGBT Project Coordinator 

Beirut, Lebanon, Part-Time

This position is open to candidates interested in working with Safe Place International to develop our newest project in Beirut, Lebanon. Applicants should be able to start immediately. They will work closely with our partner organization, Hellem, in coordinating classes, workshops and events for the LGBT refugee community at the Hellem center. Applicants should have a background in management and teamwork, Non-profit and NGO’s, fundraising, and LGBT+ issues/refugee rights. The candidate should also have a strong knowledge of the Beirut area. English and Arabic fluency are required and other language skills are a plus.

Internships and Volunteering

Interns and Volunteers have played a critical role in all of our projects. We welcome interns and volunteers of all levels of knowledge and experience for all of our projects. Here are some specific roles we are looking for:

 

Psychosocial Support Intern

Greece and Turkey

This position is open to candidates interested in helping to organize peer groups, provide group therapy and individual counseling, and conduct workshops on topics related to mental health. Candidates have a background in psychology or counseling and command of English. Knowledge of Arabic, French, or Farsi is a strong plus. Internship length is 2-6 months, with housing provided.

 

Administrative Assistant Intern

Remote

This position is open to candidates interested in helping with administrative tasks such as budgeting, accounting, copywriting, preparing reports, grant-writing, website design and maintenance, project management, and co-ordinating between project teams. Candidates have a background in non-profit or NGO management, fundraising and grant-writing, social media management, brand development and marketing, experience with Excel, Slack, WordPress as well as online merchants such as Stripe and Paypal, and a professional attitude.

 

LGBT Shelter Intern

Greece and Turkey

This position is open to candidates who wish to come live in the shelter alongside LGBT+ refugees in either Greece or Turkey. They will help with daily case work needs such as hospital visits, coordinating with other NGO’s, upholding the rules, day to day management of the shelter alongside the shelter manager, organizing activities and workshops, crisis management, and administration. Candidates should have a background working with LGBT+ and refugee issues as well as a command of English along with either Arabic, Turkish, French, Kurdish or Farsi. Internship length is 2-6 months with housing provided.

 

Moms2Moms Project Intern

Istanbul, Turkey

This position is open to candidates who are interested in working on the Moms2Moms project in Istanbul supporting migrant mothers from Africa. This intern works closely with the project manager conducting bi-weekly food card distributions and case work with families. Additionally, the intern will support in organizing and planning the opening of a daycare/educational center. Candidates should have a background working with African and migrant issues as well as a command of English and French. Internship length is 2-6 months with housing negotiable.

 

Job Training and Placement Intern

Greece and Turkey

This position is open to candidates based in Greece or Turkey who are familiar with the situation on the ground. They will help our LGBT+ shelter residents as well as Moms2Moms beneficiaries prepare CV’s, learn job-related skills, and find employment. Candidates have a background in Human Resources, Job Training, Education, or the NGO field and speak English along with either Arabic, Turkish, French, Kurdish or Farsi.

 

Event Planning and Outreach Coordination Intern

Greece and Turkey

This position is open to candidates based in Greece or Turkey who are familiar with the situation on the ground. Candidates will conduct outreach with other NGO’s and organizations in order to improve our cooperation with the community, find additional services and resources for our beneficiaries; as well as plan events such as workshops, classes, benefits, and fundraisers to benefit our residents or to promote our organization. Candidates have a background in event planning, management, marketing, or the NGO field and speak English along with either Arabic, Turkish, French, Kurdish or Farsi.

 

Project Management Assistant Intern

Turkey

This position is open to candidates interested in supporting the project manager of our Moms2Moms project with case work, accounting, purchasing and distribution of grocery cards, social media, planning, and project coordination. Candidates will help us serve African immigrant mothers in Istanbul and should have a background in immigrant and women’s rights issues, enjoy working with children, and should speak English and French. Command of Turkish is a strong plus. Internship length is 2-6 months and housing can be arranged depending upon availability.

 

Volunteer English Teacher

Greece and Turkey

This volunteer will conduct private or group English classes.

 

Volunteer Turkish Teacher

Turkey

This volunteer will conduct private or group Turkish classes.

 

Volunteer Greek Teacher

Greece

This volunteer will conduct private or group Greek classes.

 

Volunteer on-call Farsi Interpreter

Turkey

This volunteer is available to interpret from Farsi to Turkish or English on an on-call basis.

 

Volunteer child-care

Turkey

This volunteer is available to babysit as needed and speaks French.
